About
Al Lindroth builds planters, benches, birdhouses and garden pieces in Brookfield, Connecticut.
The wood
Every planter is cedar. Al also works in pine and pressure-treated lumber for some of the other pieces.
Nothing is stained or sealed unless the piece is painted. What you see is the wood.
Why cedar
Cedar is naturally resistant to insects, rot and weather, so it needs no treatment to survive outside. Al has three untreated cedar birdhouses that have been out in Connecticut weather for over six years.
Left alone, cedar weathers to a soft grey. If you want to keep the reddish colour it starts with, finish it with a weather-resistant sealer — but that is a preference, not maintenance.
All planters have drain holes.
Custom orders
Al will build to your measurements. Custom pieces take about two weeks and need a 50% deposit up front, and he will send a written quote before starting. Sizes are built to order rather than machined, so expect close rather than exact.
Pickup and delivery
Pickup in Brookfield, or local delivery for a flat $5. He does not ship.
